Charity Directory Terms and Conditions

Published on: November, 2025

1. Introduction

Pet Care Hubs is a digital media platform operated by Collars Inc. Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. Pet Care Hubs itself is not a charity, but provides online services to connect pet owners with pet care resources. One such service is our city-specific Charity Directory, which aims to connect pet owners and the public with registered nonprofit animal charities in their local area. The Charity Directory currently covers select cities in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area (EEA), with each city having its own listings of relevant charities. It is provided as a free resource for users and charities, with the goal of raising awareness and support for animal-focused nonprofits.

By accessing, browsing, or using the Charity Directory (including submitting information for a listing or verifying a charity’s profile), you agree to these Terms and Conditions. These Charity Directory Terms are part of the broader Pet Care Hubs Terms & Conditions and govern your participation in or use of the directory. If you do not agree with these terms, you should refrain from using the Charity Directory.

2. Eligibility and Inclusion

The Charity Directory is curated by Pet Care Hubs to include only appropriate and qualified organizations. Eligibility criteria for inclusion in the directory are as follows:

  • Registered Nonprofit Status: Only organizations that are legally registered nonprofit animal charities (for example, registered with the Charity Commission in the UK or an equivalent regulatory body in the EEA) are eligible for listing. We do not list for-profit businesses, informal/unregistered groups, or individual persons.

  • City-Specific Relevance: The directory is organized by city, and a charity will only be listed under a city if it primarily serves or is based in that local community. Each city’s directory includes charities that operate in or have a clear connection to that city or region.

  • Curated by Pet Care Hubs: All charity listings are added and maintained by the Pet Care Hubs team. We manually verify eligibility before adding any organization. Members of the public or charity representatives may recommend a charity for inclusion by using our submission form on the site. However, the final decision on listing any charity rests with us, and we may decline to list an organization that does not meet our criteria or for any other appropriate reason.

  • Permanent Listings: Once a qualified charity is included in the directory, the listing is intended to be permanent. Charities cannot request removal of their listing at will. We maintain listings as an informational public resource, and they remain active unless we determine that a listing is no longer appropriate (for example, if the charity ceases operations, loses its nonprofit status, or significantly fails to meet our inclusion policies). In cases of factual errors or changes (addressed in the Updates and Corrections section below), we will correct the listing rather than remove it.

By maintaining these eligibility standards, Pet Care Hubs ensures that the Charity Directory remains a trustworthy and relevant resource focused on bona fide animal charities in each community.

3. Charity Categories

For clarity and consistency, each listed charity in the directory is classified under one of our accepted charity categories based on the organization’s primary mission. Pet Care Hubs recognizes the following seven types of animal charities eligible for inclusion:

  • Animal Rescue: Charities focused on rescuing domestic animals (pets or farm animals) from abuse, neglect, abandonment, or disaster situations. These organizations typically rehabilitate animals and seek to rehome them or provide sanctuary.

  • Animal Welfare: Charities dedicated to the general well-being and humane treatment of animals. This category includes organizations that might run shelters or clinics, campaign against animal cruelty, promote humane practices, or provide care standards for animals (similar to SPCA-type organizations).

  • Animal Rights: Organizations that advocate for the rights of animals through campaigns, education, or legal reform. These charities focus on issues like ending animal exploitation, changing laws or policies, and raising public awareness about ethical treatment of animals.

  • Veterinary Clinic (Nonprofit): Nonprofit veterinary service providers, such as charitable veterinary hospitals or clinics. These organizations typically offer low-cost or free medical care for animals, spay/neuter programs, vaccinations, and emergency treatment as a charitable service to the community. (For-profit veterinary clinics are not listed; only those with nonprofit status or charitable missions qualify.)

  • Local Shelter: Community-based animal shelters that provide housing and care for stray, abandoned, or surrendered animals. These are often municipal or local charity shelters focused on temporarily caring for homeless pets and facilitating adoptions or reunions with owners in the specific city/area.

  • Guide Dogs/Service Animals: Charities that train and provide guide dogs or other service animals to people with disabilities or special needs. These organizations breed, raise, and train dogs (or other animals) to become assistance animals (such as guide dogs for the blind, hearing dogs for the deaf, therapy animals, etc.), usually offering them at little or no cost to beneficiaries.

  • Wildlife & Conservation: Organizations devoted to the welfare of wildlife and the conservation of natural habitats. This includes charities that rescue and rehabilitate wild animals, protect endangered species, manage conservation projects, or engage in environmental education related to wildlife.

Each charity’s category is displayed on its listing profile for user reference. These categories help users filter and understand the nature of each organization. Pet Care Hubs will assign the category that best fits a charity’s primary activities based on information available. If a charity does not clearly fall into one of the above categories, it may not be listed, or we may determine the closest category at our discretion. Charities should ensure their missions align with one of these categories when applying or being considered for inclusion.

4. Verification and Use of the PCH Charity ID

We offer an optional verification process for charities in the directory to confirm their details and enhance trust. While not mandatory, verification is strongly encouraged, as a verified charity will be visibly marked with a special badge on its profile, signaling to users that Pet Care Hubs has confirmed the charity’s legitimacy and key information.

  • Verification Process: An authorized representative of the charity must complete our verification form to initiate the process. Only someone with official capacity in the organization (for example, a director, trustee, manager, or communications officer) should submit a verification request. We may ask for proof of identity or affiliation and documentation of the charity’s registered status as part of verification.

  • PCH Charity ID Requirement: Each charity listing is assigned a unique Pet Care Hubs Charity ID for internal identification. The charity representative must use or reference this ID when submitting a verification request so we can correctly identify the organization. If you are a charity representative and do not know your PCH Charity ID, you may contact us to obtain it. This ID helps ensure that only authorized persons verify a listing (preventing any third party from falsely verifying a charity’s profile).

  • Outcome of Verification: Upon successful verification, the charity’s profile will be updated with a “Verified” badge or notation visible to the public. This badge indicates that we have confirmed the charity’s legal registration and the accuracy of key profile information. Verification may also unlock additional features or benefits (such as inclusion in our Partner Retention Network, described later). If a charity has not gone through verification, it may still be listed (provided it meets the inclusion criteria), but it will be shown as unverified and users are advised to independently confirm critical details.

  • Maintenance of Verification: We reserve the right to re-verify information periodically or if we suspect that any provided details are outdated or incorrect. If a previously verified charity undergoes significant changes (e.g. a name change or merger) or if issues arise concerning its legitimacy, we may remove the verified status until the information is confirmed again.

5. What Is Public vs. Private Data

We are committed to protecting personal data while providing useful information to the public. This section explains which information about charities is public on the directory and which information is kept private (for internal use only), in line with our Privacy Policy and data protection laws.

  • Public Information (Displayed on Profiles): The Charity Directory publishes only information relevant to identifying and describing the charity. This includes details such as the charity’s name, the category (from the list above), the city or region of operation, and an “About” description or mission statement for the charity. We also display public contact information like the charity’s official website URL, public email or phone number (if provided for outreach), office or shelter address (if it’s public information), and any social media links the charity uses for public communication. Additionally, we may indicate whether the charity is currently open to donations, seeking volunteers, or has animals available for adoption, if the charity has given us such information to share. Any content in the charity’s profile is intended to help users understand the charity’s work and how to get involved or help. Importantly, none of this public information will include personal data about private individuals – it is all about the organization and its public activities.

  • Private Information (Collected for Verification/Internal Use): During the verification or listing process, we may collect personal contact details of a charity’s representative (such as the name, email address, and phone number of the person submitting the information or completing verification). This information is used strictly for internal purposes – for example, to contact you for verification, to request additional information, or to communicate about updates to the charity’s profile. We do not publish personal individual data like the names or personal contact info of charity staff or volunteers on the public directory. The only names on a public profile would be key figures if they are part of the charity’s public branding (for instance, a founder’s name if it’s in the “about” description provided by the charity itself), but personal verifier information is kept confidential. We handle all private personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and EU GDPR, and our Privacy Policy. This means such data is stored securely, used only for the intended legitimate purposes, and not shared with unauthorized third parties. Charities can request deletion or correction of private contact data we hold about their representatives at any time, as described in our Privacy Policy. Pet Care Hubs (Collars Inc. Ltd) acts as the data controller for this information and will ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws in how your data is handled.

In summary, all information visible on the directory is organizational and meant for public consumption, while personal contact information collected for verification remains private. We encourage charities to provide thorough public details for their profiles to engage users, but rest assured that behind-the-scenes contact data is safeguarded and used only for running the directory.

6. Content Ownership and Copyright

Both Pet Care Hubs and the participating charities have important rights regarding the content in the Charity Directory. This section outlines how content ownership and usage rights are handled:

  • Charity’s Own Content: Charities retain ownership of all logos, images, text, or other materials that they provide to Pet Care Hubs for inclusion in their directory listing. For example, if a charity submits their official logo, photographs of animals or events, or a written description of their mission, those materials remain the intellectual property of the charity. We do not assume ownership of a charity’s copyrighted content simply by listing it.

  • License to Pet Care Hubs: By submitting or approving content for your listing (whether via the verification process or other communications with us), you grant Pet Care Hubs (Collars Inc. Ltd) a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, publish, and display that content on our platform and in any related promotional or informational materials. This license is necessary for us to legally display your content on the Charity Directory and, for instance, to include your charity in any promotional features such as “charity spotlights” or social media posts highlighting the directory. We will only use your content in connection with showcasing your charity’s information on our site or promoting the Charity Directory; we will not sell your content or use it outside the context of Pet Care Hubs services. This license lasts for as long as your charity remains listed in our directory (and for a reasonable time thereafter for any residual copies, backups, or promotional materials already in circulation). If you believe any content of yours was used beyond this scope, please notify us.

  • Accuracy and Permissions: When a charity provides content to Pet Care Hubs, the charity is responsible for ensuring it has the right to use that content and to allow us to use it. The charity should only submit text or images that it has created itself or for which it has obtained the necessary rights and consents. By providing content, you represent and warrant that doing so does not infringe any third-party’s rights (for example, do not submit photographs taken by someone outside your organization without permission, or proprietary text from another source). Pet Care Hubs is not liable for any copyright or trademark infringements arising from content provided by a charity; that responsibility lies with the submitting charity. If we are informed of an intellectual property violation, we may remove or replace the disputed content and may suspend the listing until the issue is resolved.

  • Pet Care Hubs Content and Platform Ownership: Pet Care Hubs retains ownership of all platform content and design that we create. The overall compilation of the directory, the website design and layout, Pet Care Hubs’ own articles or editorial text, and any content created by our team (such as city guides, directory introductions, or any original descriptions we write) are the property of Pet Care Hubs / Collars Inc. Ltd and are protected by copyright, database rights, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Pet Care Hubs™ is a trademarks of Collars Inc. Ltd. Use of our site does not grant any charity or user ownership of or license to our intellectual property beyond the content that the charity itself provided. We welcome you to share the directory link or refer others to it, but you may not copy, scrape, or reproduce substantial portions of the directory (such as copying all charity listings or our descriptions) without our express written permission. Automated scraping or harvesting of data from the directory is expressly prohibited.

  • Use of Directory Content by Third Parties: Third parties (including charities themselves, users, or other websites) may not republish or reuse content from Pet Care Hubs beyond fair use without permission. For example, a charity can of course use its own description and data elsewhere (since it owns that content), but if any content was written by Pet Care Hubs (such as a summary we created), that content cannot be copied to another site without our consent. Likewise, no one is allowed to create a competing directory or a data product by extracting information from Pet Care Hubs. Any permitted use (such as quoting a statistic or sharing a single profile link) must give appropriate credit to Pet Care Hubs. We reserve the right to take legal action against unauthorized use of the content or structure of our directory, as such actions may violate our intellectual property rights and the terms of use.

In short, charities keep ownership of their logos and descriptions, and Pet Care Hubs owns the platform and its original content. By working together and respecting these ownership terms, we ensure that everyone’s rights are protected while making the directory useful and informative.

7. Updates and Corrections

Pet Care Hubs is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the Charity Directory. To that end, we manage all updates to listings centrally. Charities cannot directly edit their own listings on the site, but we provide mechanisms to request changes or report errors to keep information current. We also undertake periodic reviews of all listings.

  • No Direct Edits by Users or Charities: Once a charity’s profile is published in the directory, it is not editable through a user interface by the public or by the charity itself. This is to ensure consistency, accuracy, and to prevent vandalism or unauthorized changes. All modifications to a listing are handled by Pet Care Hubs staff.

  • “Report a Mistake” Feature: Each charity profile page includes a “Report a Mistake” form or link. This allows anyone – whether it’s a representative of the charity or a member of the public – to notify us of incorrect information, typos, outdated details, or other issues with the listing. When a mistake is reported, our team will review the submission and verify the suggested correction. If the report is valid, we will update the listing accordingly. We aim to address reported errors promptly, but please allow some time for verification and updating.

  • Update Requests by Charities: If a charity undergoes changes (for example, new contact information, a new website, expanded services, a merger, etc.), the charity is encouraged to inform us. Authorized charity representatives can request an update at any time by contacting Pet Care Hubs (through the “Report a Mistake” form or via any provided contact channel for directory support). We may require verification of significant changes to ensure accuracy before updating the public profile.

  • Periodic Reviews (Every 6 Months): To maintain data integrity, Pet Care Hubs proactively reviews and re-verifies charity listings approximately every six months. This may involve reaching out to the charity to confirm that key information is still correct (such as confirming that contact details, services offered, and donation/volunteering status are up to date). We appreciate cooperation from charities during these check-ins. If we are unable to confirm details or if we find that information has become stale, we may update the listing from publicly available sources or include a note that certain details are unverified until we can confirm them again.

  • Accuracy is a Shared Responsibility: While our team works hard to keep listings accurate, we also rely on charities to inform us of changes. Charities should ideally notify us if, for example, they relocate, change their name, or significantly alter their mission or operations. Keeping information current helps users trust and engage with the directory. Pet Care Hubs is not responsible for any consequences of outdated information when we were not informed of changes, but we will act quickly to update any inaccuracies once identified.

By centralizing the update process, we ensure that the Charity Directory remains reliable. We encourage all stakeholders to make use of the correction request tools to help us maintain high quality and accurate listings.

8. Partner Retention Network

Pet Care Hubs values ongoing relationships with the charities listed in our directory. To support and engage verified charities, we have established a Partner Retention Network. This is an initiative through which Pet Care Hubs can provide added value to charities and keep them connected to our community. All charities that complete verification (as described in Section 4) are automatically enrolled in the Partner Retention Network, though participation is optional and can be adjusted as described below.

  • Benefits for Verified Charities: Being part of the Partner Retention Network means the charity will receive occasional communications and opportunities from Pet Care Hubs. This can include periodic updates about the platform, early access to new features or services relevant to charities, and invitations to participate in special programs. For example, we may highlight a “Charity of the Month” from among our verified partners or share tips on how to maximize engagement with the local pet owner community. Verified charities might also be included in charity spotlight articles or interviews on our site, or given the chance to be featured in our local community broadcasts (newsletters, event round-ups, etc.). We may also share information about free or discounted resources from our partners (like webinar invites, toolkits, or events) that could benefit animal charities.

  • Broadcast and Collaboration Features: Pet Care Hubs sometimes runs community broadcasts or city hub communications (for instance, WhatsApp community announcements or email newsletters for users in a city). Verified charities in the Network may have their news or updates amplified through these channels. We could, for example, share a verified charity’s major adoption event or fundraising campaign with the wider pet community in that city, as part of our mission to support local pet causes. Additionally, we may organize collaborative campaigns (like citywide pet adoption drives or charity fairs) where Partner Retention Network members get priority or exclusive invitations.

  • Opt-Out Option: Participation in the Partner Retention Network is not mandatory. If a verified charity prefers not to receive certain types of communications or not to be included in spotlight opportunities, they can opt out at any time. Each communication sent to charities will include a clear method to unsubscribe or manage preferences (for example, an email might have an “unsubscribe” link or instructions to opt out of future updates). Charities can also directly contact us to adjust their participation. Opting out of the Network’s communications will not affect the charity’s listing in the public directory or its verified status; it only means we will not include the charity in outreach or optional promotional opportunities going forward.

  • Use of Charity Information: Even within the Partner Retention Network, Pet Care Hubs will respect each charity’s information and preferences. We will not share a charity’s contact details with third parties without consent, and communications will primarily be from us to the charity. If we plan any public spotlight or feature that uses content from a charity beyond what is on their directory profile, we will typically obtain the charity’s agreement (for example, if we want to do an interview or a detailed article on the charity, we’d coordinate with them). The Network’s aim is to retain engagement, so we seek to make it beneficial, not burdensome, for the charities involved.

The Partner Retention Network is part of our commitment to ensure that being listed on Pet Care Hubs is not a one-off occurrence, but the start of an ongoing supportive partnership. We want charities to feel supported and to see tangible benefits from their presence in the directory, beyond just having their name listed.

9. Metrics and Communication Preferences

To help charities understand the impact of their listing on Pet Care Hubs, we offer the option for verified charities to receive periodic metrics reports and to customize their communication preferences.

  • Monthly Metrics Reports: Verified charities may opt in to receive a monthly report with statistics and metrics related to their listing. These metrics might include data such as how many views their charity profile received, how many users clicked through to their website, or other engagement indicators available on our platform. The metrics are intended to give charities insight into how visibility on Pet Care Hubs is aiding their outreach. If a charity chooses to receive these reports, we will typically send them via email (or make them accessible through a secure dashboard, if available). The content of reports will be aggregate and anonymized regarding users – for example, we might show “Your profile had X views from users in the last month,” but we won’t disclose personal data of those viewing.

  • Opt-In and Customization: By default, charities are not automatically subscribed to monthly metrics; this is an optional service. During the verification process or at any time afterwards, a charity can let us know if they wish to receive metrics. We may present this option in the verification form or via an email invitation. Charities can also specify what type of data they are most interested in, if we offer customizable reports (for instance, some might only care about website clicks vs. event sign-ups, etc., subject to what we are able to track and provide).

  • Privacy of Data: The data provided in these reports will be collected and processed in line with our Privacy Policy and any applicable data protection laws. We only use and share metrics with the respective charity to which the data pertains. We will not share a charity’s specific performance data with other charities or outside parties without consent. (We might use overall aggregate data internally or in case studies, e.g., “Charity profiles received an average of X views per month,” but individual charity metrics are for that charity’s eyes only.)

  • Unsubscribing: Charities can unsubscribe or change their preferences at any time. Every metrics report email we send will contain an unsubscribe link or instructions to opt out. Alternatively, a charity can contact us directly (via email or support channels) to stop receiving metrics or to adjust frequency. Once unsubscribed, we will cease sending these reports, though the charity’s data may still be collected internally for platform analytics purposes. If a charity that opted out later decides they want to re-subscribe, they can request to start receiving reports again.

  • Other Communications: Aside from metrics, we allow charities to set preferences for other communications (e.g., Partner Retention Network updates, as described above, or invitations to events). We strive to avoid overwhelming our partners with too many emails – communications are infrequent and meant to be valuable. Charities can manage these preferences collectively or separately. Our system honors these preferences, and we adhere to anti-spam regulations: we will not send marketing or non-essential emails to charities who have opted out.

By providing metrics and flexible communication options, we aim to empower charities with information and control. This way, a charity can tangibly see the benefits of being listed on Pet Care Hubs and engage with our platform in the ways that best suit their needs.

10. Event and Campaign Highlights

Pet Care Hubs loves to promote the great work that local animal charities are doing. From time to time, we may highlight charity events or campaigns in our city hubs or communications. While we encourage charities to share their upcoming events with us, it’s important to note how such promotions are handled:

  • Charity-Submitted Events: Charities in our directory (especially verified ones) are welcome to inform us of their upcoming events, fundraisers, or major campaigns. For example, if your shelter is holding an adoption drive, a charity run, a fundraising gala, or a volunteer orientation day, you can send us the details. We may provide a form or an email contact specifically for charities to submit event information.

  • Consideration for Promotion: Pet Care Hubs will consider submitted events for inclusion in our local hub broadcasts or community updates. “Broadcasts” might include things like our city-specific newsletters, WhatsApp community announcements, social media posts, or website event calendars if we have them. We select events to share based on relevance to our community, timing, and capacity. We want to ensure any events we promote are of genuine interest to local pet owners and align with our community guidelines (e.g., family-friendly, animal-friendly events).

  • No Guaranteed Placement: Submission of an event does not guarantee promotion. We do not commit to featuring every event we learn about. There may be many events or limited space in a newsletter, or certain events might not fit the content schedule. Pet Care Hubs reserves the right to decide if, when, and how any charity event is highlighted on our platform. We might choose to mention some events and not others, or summarize multiple events in one post, at our discretion. Charities should continue their own direct event marketing as we cannot promise our coverage.

  • Editorial Control: If we do feature a charity’s event or campaign, we may edit the description for length or clarity, and we will usually include our own perspective or branding in the announcement. For instance, we might say “This weekend, don’t miss Happy Paws Rescue’s Adoption Day at Central Park...” etc. We will strive to represent the event accurately and positively. If time allows and the event is a major one, we might reach out to the charity for additional info or quotes to enrich the piece. However, we typically will not send drafts for approval to the charity; the decision to feature and the content of the feature are ultimately our editorial decision.

  • No Endorsement or Liability: Featuring a charity’s event is not an endorsement by Pet Care Hubs beyond our general support for pet-friendly community activities. We do not assume responsibility for the event itself. Attendance or participation is at the user’s discretion and risk, and the charity is solely responsible for managing the event (ensuring safety, delivering on any promises, etc.). If an event we promoted is canceled or changed, we appreciate being informed so we can update any posts, but we are not liable for any inconvenience or loss to users due to event changes.

  • Free Service: Pet Care Hubs does not charge charities for mentioning their events, nor do we receive any compensation for doing so. It’s a goodwill initiative to support our community. Likewise, we do not pay charities to host events – our role is purely informational.

In summary, we invite charities to keep us in the loop about their activities, and we will highlight some as part of our mission to foster community engagement. But promotion is at our discretion and is provided as a courtesy, not as an obligation or paid service.

11. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Charity Directory is provided to users and charities for informational purposes and as a community resource. While Pet Care Hubs strives to ensure that the directory’s content is accurate and useful, there are important disclaimers and limits on our liability that you must understand:

  • No Guarantee of Complete Accuracy: We work hard to verify and update the information in the directory, but we do not warrant that all information is complete, error-free, or up-to-date at all times. Charities may change their operations or details without notice to us, and there could be a lag before we catch and correct any given detail. Users of the directory should double-check critical information (such as a charity’s opening hours, or the details of an upcoming event) by directly contacting the charity or visiting the charity’s official website. Pet Care Hubs provides the directory "as is" and disclaims any express or implied warranties as to the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of information in the directory. This includes warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

  • Informational Use Only / No Endorsement: Inclusion of a charity in the directory does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation by Pet Care Hubs of that organization or its services. The directory is simply a listing of known animal charities. Users should not interpret a charity’s presence (even with a “Verified” badge) as a guarantee of that charity’s quality, reputation, financial stability, or suitability for your needs. We encourage users to exercise due diligence – for example, if you plan to donate or volunteer, review the charity’s own materials or ratings from independent watchdogs. Pet Care Hubs does not conduct exhaustive background checks or audits of the charities listed. Verification is limited to confirming basic information (such as legal registration and operational status) and does not involve review of the charity’s programs or finances in detail.

  • Third-Party Content and External Links: Charity profiles may contain links to the charity’s own website or social media pages, and possibly to third-party donation platforms or event pages. These links are provided for convenience and informational purposes. Pet Care Hubs has no control over and is not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or activities of any third-party websites. When you click an external link and leave our site, you are subject to that third party’s terms and policies, not ours. We do not guarantee that external websites will be available, secure, or accurate. We are not liable for any loss or damage that may arise from your use of or reliance on third-party websites or content. For example, if you follow a link to a charity’s donation page and make a donation, any issue with that transaction is solely between you and the charity (or the payment processor) – Pet Care Hubs is not responsible for such issues.

  • Limitation of Liability: To the maximum extent allowed by law, Pet Care Hubs (Collars Inc. Ltd) and its officers, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of or in connection with the Charity Directory or its use. This includes, but is not limited to, any loss of funds, loss of data, personal injury, or property damage arising from engagement with a listed charity or reliance on information in the directory. For example, if a user volunteers with a charity they found on our site and has a bad experience, or if a donor misdirects funds, Pet Care Hubs cannot be held responsible for those outcomes. Our liability for any claim related to the directory, in any event, will not exceed any amount paid by you (since our directory is free, typically this is £0). Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability for certain types of damages; in such jurisdictions, our liability will be limited to the extent permitted by law.

  • No Guarantee of Availability: We do not guarantee that the Charity Directory (or any particular listing) will always be available or accessible. We may experience website downtime, or we may choose to modify or remove parts of the directory from time to time. Pet Care Hubs is not liable for any inability to access the directory or for any delay or failure in performance beyond our reasonable control, such as technical problems, network outages, or acts of God.

  • Reliance at Your Own Risk: Users and charities acknowledge that they use the directory at their own risk. While we hope the directory is helpful and informative, ultimate decisions (such as which charity to support, or how to interact with a charity) rest with the users. Pet Care Hubs shall not be responsible for outcomes of decisions made based on the directory content.

By using the directory, you accept that these disclaimers and limitations of liability are reasonable. If you do not agree that they are reasonable, you must not use the directory. Nothing in these terms is intended to limit any rights you may have under law that cannot be lawfully limited or to exclude liability for anything that cannot be excluded under law (for instance, we do not seek to exclude liability for our own fraud or for death/personal injury caused by our negligence, if such liability is mandated by applicable law).

12. Termination and Removal

Pet Care Hubs reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Charity Directory, including individual charity listings, at our discretion. While our mission is to keep a comprehensive and up-to-date directory, certain circumstances may lead to changes or removals of listings:

  • Removal or Suspension by Pet Care Hubs: We may remove or temporarily unpublish a charity’s listing if we have reason to believe the charity no longer meets our inclusion criteria or if other issues arise. Reasons for removal could include (but are not limited to) discovering that a charity provided false information, the charity losing its legal nonprofit status or registration, evidence of serious misconduct by the charity, or the charity ceasing operations. We may also remove a listing if required by law or at the direction of competent authorities. Removal of a listing is generally permanent unless the issue is resolved to our satisfaction (for example, if a charity was erroneously marked as closed and later it’s shown they are still active, we might restore the listing). Pet Care Hubs also retains the right to edit a listing or remove certain content from a listing (rather than remove the entire entry) if that content is found to be problematic or in violation of our policies.

  • No Right of Removal by Charity: As noted in the Eligibility section, charities do not have a general right to demand removal of their listing from our directory. The directory is meant to be a public index of active animal charities, much like a phone directory or public listing – not an opt-in marketing service. We understand that occasionally a charity might wish not to be listed, but as the information we use is generally public (charity name, purpose, public contact info, etc.), we treat the directory as a public reference. We will not remove a listing at a charity’s request absent a compelling reason. A compelling reason might include a demonstrable safety concern, a legal conflict, or a critical error that cannot be corrected without essentially delisting. In most cases, concerns about a listing can be resolved through our corrections process (updating any incorrect information) rather than removal.

  • Charity Ceases Operations: If we receive confirmed information that a charity has closed down or ceased operations, we will mark the listing accordingly or remove it. (We may leave a note for a period of time, such as “This charity has closed as of 2025,” for user information before removal.) Similarly, if two charities merge, we might merge their listings or update the listing to the new entity name, etc., rather than having outdated separate entries.

  • User Misuse: These terms primarily govern content and relationships with charities, but if a user (non-charity) is found to be misusing the directory (for example, attempting to spam the “Report a Mistake” form or harass listed charities), we reserve the right to block or restrict that user’s access to the directory. This might include technical measures to prevent scraping or rate-limiting access if needed to protect the service.

  • Effect of Termination: If a charity’s listing is removed or the entire directory service is suspended, these Terms will cease to apply with respect to that listing or service (except for provisions that by their nature survive, such as indemnities, limitation of liability, governing law, etc.). If a listing is removed, any licenses the charity granted to Pet Care Hubs for content in that listing will also end (except to the extent needed to retain historical records or backups, or as required for legal/regulatory compliance). Pet Care Hubs will not be liable for any damages or losses to a charity resulting from the removal or suspension of a listing, provided such removal was in line with these Terms or a legal requirement.

We will generally attempt to notify a charity if we decide to remove its listing (using the last known contact email or phone we have on file), but we are not obliged to do so in all circumstances. The decision to remove or modify a listing is in Pet Care Hubs’ sole discretion. Our intent is to do so only when necessary to maintain the integrity and lawfulness of the directory.

13. Modifications to These Terms

Pet Care Hubs may revise or update these Charity Directory Terms and Conditions from time to time. As our platform evolves and we add new features or in response to legal requirements, we will adjust the terms to remain clear and compliant.

  • Right to Update: We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes might be minor (such as clarifications or grammatical fixes) or major (such as adding new sections for new features).

  • Notification of Changes: When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document to reflect the date of the latest revision. Significant changes may be communicated through additional means – for example, we might post an announcement on our website, send an email to verified charities, or present a notice upon visiting the Charity Directory page. However, it remains your responsibility to review the terms periodically for any updates.

  • Acceptance of Changes: Continued use of the Charity Directory after changes to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the new terms. If you do not agree to the revised terms, you should stop using the directory and, if you are a charity, you may contact us with any concerns (though as noted, we generally do not remove listings upon request, so disagreement with updated terms might not result in delisting unless the terms change in a way that materially affects the charity’s rights or obligations).

  • Version Archive: For transparency, Pet Care Hubs may keep archived versions of previous terms (available upon request or via our website) so that changes over time can be traced. If required by law, we might also seek renewed consent for certain changes (for example, if a change involves how we use personal data, we would ensure compliance with data protection laws regarding consent or notification).

  • Severability: If any provision of the updated terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remainder of the terms will remain in full effect.

By keeping these terms up to date, we aim to maintain clarity in how the Charity Directory operates. We encourage users and charities to review the terms whenever notified of a change, to ensure you understand your rights and responsibilities.

14. Governing Law

These Charity Directory Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the use of the Charity Directory, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. This choice of law is made because Pet Care Hubs (Collars Inc. Ltd) is based in the UK, and using a consistent legal framework helps provide predictability and fairness in the interpretation of these Terms.

By using the Charity Directory, you agree that any disputes (whether contractual or non-contractual) will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. In other words, if any legal action arises relating to these Terms or the directory, it shall be brought in a court located in England or Wales (unless we mutually agree to an alternative dispute resolution method, such as arbitration, in a particular case).

For users or charities based outside of England and Wales: we note that you are still expected to comply with any local laws applicable to you (for example, compliance with your own country’s charity regulations or privacy laws when using the directory), but the agreement between you and Pet Care Hubs is governed by UK law. If you access the directory from outside the UK, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with any local laws.

Summary: England and Wales law governs these Terms, and any disputes will be settled in England and Wales courts. We value our international (EEA) users and charities, but having a single governing law (UK) helps us manage the platform under a coherent legal structure. If you have any questions about how these Terms apply in your jurisdiction, you may contact us for clarification. However, by agreeing to these Terms, you explicitly agree to the specified governing law and jurisdiction.
