Purpose of the role

This role exists to provide flexible, experienced support across the Pet Care Hub network. Floater Mods embody the values of trust, service, and adaptability. Whether helping orient new moderators, responding to urgent issues, or covering key hubs during peak times, your presence helps keep the community safe and thriving.

You’ll act as a cross-hub moderator who understands tone, policy, and escalation, providing insight while bridging gaps in coverage.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond via the Mod WhatsApp group when needed

  • Share best practices with new moderators

  • Identify trends and provide core team feedback

  • Help maintain tone and consistency across multiple communities

You’ll already have:

  • Completed a 3-month volunteer term in a moderator role

  • A strong grasp of Collars' community guidelines and tools

  • Experience navigating WhatsApp, Notion, and Google Sheets

  • A calm, fair approach during complex or high-pressure moments

  • A clear, confident communication style and good judgment

You’re likely developing or ready to strengthen:

  • Regional tone awareness and cross-cultural community dynamics

  • Mentorship skills to help orient others

  • Strategic thinking around moderation systems

  • Initiative and self-leadership when working solo

  • A flexible rhythm and capacity to step into new hub environments

Perks & Benefits

  • £50 voucher or an animal sponsorship in your name to honour your extended service

  • Certificate of Community Care (great for your CV or LinkedIn)

  • Public thank-you and digital badge

  • LinkedIn endorsement or professional reference

  • Priority invitations to projects, workshops, and special events

  • Continued professional development and behind-the-scenes impact

Why join

This is an ideal role for volunteers who: • Enjoy variety and autonomy • Want to deepen their contribution across the network • Thrive in high-trust, low-micro-management environments • Are curious about shaping moderation practices at a higher level
